YMCA of Montclair is seeking a part-time swim team assistant to support structured practices, track attendance, and promote swimmer development in a safe, nurturing environment.

You will work under the Director of Competitive Coaching, attend meets, and assist with events while upholding YMCA standards and policies. Requires 17+ years old and 2+ years as a competitive swimmer with current CPR/AED/First Aid certs.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 17 and 2+ years as a competitive swimmer.
• Proficient swim skills per YMCA standards; strong stroke mechanics.
• Maintain annual CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
• Lifeguarding and swim coach certifications or STSC in-person if needed.
• Obtain required USA Swimming/YUSA certifications to coach at events.

Responsabilités

• Support the coach during structured practices.
• Track daily attendance for the swim team.
• Communicate with parents and foster swimmer development.
• Attend invited meets and team events.
• Assist in social events for the swim team.
• Maintain a safe environment for participants.
• Complete abuse risk management training and follow procedures.
• Report policy violations and follow disciplinary procedures.
• Adhere to YMCA policies, safety and emergency procedures.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Shifts usually 3:30 PM–9:00 PM; weekends and some mornings.
