Job summary

The YMCA in Worcester, MA is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach/Head Swim Team Coach under the Aquatics Direction to coach and teach members on our swim team, and to create a safe and welcoming environment in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities include coaching at least one night a week 5:30pm–8:30pm, attending monthly coaching meetings and swim meets, and fostering a positive learning environment for young swimmers while demonstrating the YMCA's mission and values.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required
• Lifeguard certification required
• 2+ years of competitive swimming experience
• Experience working with children ages 5–19
• Knowledge of competitive swimming terms and vocabulary

Under the direction of the Aquatics Direction, the Assistant Swim Coach Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for coaching and teaching members on our swim team, and creating a safe and welcoming environment in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities:

• Coach the swim team at least one night a week from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
• Attend monthly coaching meetings
• Attend and work swim meets at a minimum of one weekend per month
• Create a positive learning environment for young swimmers
• Demonstrate the YMCA's mission and values when coaching members

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be CPR, First Aid, and AED Certified
• Must hold current Lifeguard Certification
• Have at least 2 years of competitive swimming experience
• Has experience working with children from 5-19 years old
• Knowledgeable about vocabulary and terms used in competitive swimming

Job Type: Part-Time

Schedule: Weekdays 5:00pm - 8:30pm, and open availability on weekends for Swim Meets

Pay: $16.00 an hour. Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave
