Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Manager on Duty at the Mel Korum Family YMCA in Puyallup, WA. You will oversee daily center operations during shifts, supervise staff and respond to emergencies, ensuring safety and a positive member experience aligned with YMCA values.

The role emphasizes customer service, building safety, and adherence to policies, with flexible scheduling around school activities and a strong commitment to diversity.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Positive attitude and experience with diverse populations.
• Maturity and sound judgment for leadership roles.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, Oxygen, and Lifeguarding certifications required.
• Pass background and reference checks as per WA State law.
• Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.

Responsibilities

• Supervise facilities, staff, members and guests in the absence of management.
• Ensure meal and rest breaks for staff including lifeguards.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents, document accordingly.
• Walk through facility to maintain safety and cleanliness.
• Open/close facility per hours and secure building.
• Report incidents, hazards and maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Provide customer service and conduct facility tours.
• Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment for all.
