YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties seeks a Part-Time Manager on Duty at Haselwood Family YMCA in Silverdale, WA. You will oversee daily center operations in the absence of management, ensuring safety, a welcoming atmosphere, and adherence to YMCA policies.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, being at least 20 years old, and current CPR/First Aid/AED/Lifeguard certifications. Applicants must pass background checks and complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on day one.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise facilities, staff, members, and guests in the absence of management.
• Provide meal and rest breaks for staff, including lifeguards.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents following procedures and document appropriately.
• Conduct regular safety inspections for a positive member experience.
• Open/close the facility per procedures and ensure security.
• Report incidents and maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Deliver excellent customer service and facility tours.

Job description

Position: Manager on Duty

Wage: $20.60 to $24.16 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Haselwood Family YMCA, Silverdale, WA

As the Manager on Duty, you will be responsible for overseeing daily Center operations in the absence of YMCA management, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-run facility. This role supervises the building, supports staff, ensures compliance with YMCA policies and procedures, and responds to emergencies and member incidents. If hired, you will provide exceptional member experience by modeling the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility while maintaining a professional, safe, and fun environment for all.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Must be at least 20 years of age.

• Demonstrated maturity, sound judgment and decision making skills.
• Relevant knowledge and experience, especially in a supervisory and/or leadership capacity is preferred.
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, Oxygen and YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguarding certifications.
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise YMCA facilities, staff, members, and guests in the absence of management, ensuring compliance with the YMCA Code of Conduct.
• Provide required meal and rest breaks for staff, including lifeguards.
• Respond to emergencies, accidents, incidents, and behavioral concerns, following established crisis and emergency procedures and completing required documentation.
• Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to ensure safety, cleanliness, security, and a positive member experience.
• Open and/or close the facility according to established procedures, ensuring the building is secure.
• Report incidents, behavioral concerns, hazardous conditions, and maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting members and guests, answering questions, and providing facility tours.
• Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and equitable environment for members, guests, volunteers, and staff.
