Job summary

The Student Union, Inc. at San José State University is seeking a part-time Building Assistant to support SU Operations, event services, and building supervision.

You will perform custodial duties, assist with room setups and safety, and help enforce building policies during varied shifts. Requirements include First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within six months, strong customer service skills, and enrollment as a SJSU student at least half-time.

Qualifications

• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred, or may acquire within the first six months of employment.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, upbeat, and noisy work environment.
• Experience in a customer service setting strongly preferred.
• Must be a matriculated SJSU student and continuously enrolled at least half-time during the academic term.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial tasks for the Student Union building, including restrooms and floors.
• Interacts with clients, sets up/strikes rooms, and manages spaces.
• Opens/closes the building and monitors space usage.
• Reports building problems or damage.
• Enforces SU policies and safety procedures.
• Assists with building emergencies and evacuations.
• Maintains professional conduct at all times.
