Job summary

DreamYard is seeking a part-time Group Leader for the PS 32 after-school program in the Bronx. You will support a 149-student program, work with teachers and staff, and implement structured arts, sports, and technology activities in a 2:00 PM–6:00 PM school-year shift and 8:00 AM–6:00 PM summer camp schedule.

Responsibilities include creating lesson plans, supervising students, promoting SEL, and coordinating with educators.

Qualifications

• Ability to collaborate effectively with other after school staff.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering a student-centered, safe, respectful, and productive environment for all participants, families and school partners.
• All staff must pass NYC Dept of Education fingerprinting clearance before beginning work.

Responsibilities

• Supervision & Safety: Monitor student behavior, ensure physical safety, and escort children during transitions and dismissals.
• Activity Facilitation: Lead hands-on, engaging recreational and academic enrichment activities, including homework help and enrichment curricula.
• Positive Youth Development (PYD): Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment that encourages SEL and leadership.
• Administration: Take daily attendance, track headcounts, and collaborate with staff.
• Staff meetings and trainings: Attend and participate; all trainings are paid at the regular hourly rate.
• Other duties as required by management.
