Job summary

Good Shepherd Services in New York seeks an After School Group Leader to oversee safety, growth, and engagement of assigned youth through structured activities, arts and crafts, and literacy‑integrated projects. You will supervise participants, deliver a sequenced curriculum, assist instructors, plan culminating events, maintain attendance, and foster a positive, trauma‑informed environment.

Schedule: September–June, Monday–Friday, 2 pm–6 pm, up to 20 hours/week; requires 18+ and a HS diploma or

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• HS diploma or GED and 1 year related youth work experience.
• Commitment to strength-based, trauma-informed youth development.
• Ability to supervise and engage youth in activities.

Responsibilities

• Overall supervision and management of the identified group of participants.
• Engage participants in after-school activities and role model appropriate behavior.
• Ensure the safety of participants at all times.
• As needed, engage in outreach activities to ensure attendance and participation.
• Provide support to activity instructors and other group leaders.
• Develop and facilitate a sequenced and thematic curriculum and other activities including arts & crafts.
• Integrate lessons enriched with literacy, history, and other related academic subjects when applicable.
• Develop positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and school/center personnel.
• Attend all staff meetings and staff development trainings (including Saturday/evening).
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model.
• Plan and prepare culminating events for participants to showcase their activities.
• Maintain all required records for your group, including attendance.
