Job summary

Family of Kidz is seeking a Behavior Technician for a school-based role in Westchester County, NY. The position follows the school calendar with daytime hours and 25-32 hours per week, offering competitive hourly compensation.

The role collaborates with teachers, therapists, and a behavior consultant to support students with special needs, including data collection and implementing behavior plans. Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of relevant experience and a High School Diploma.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months working with children or adolescents with special needs in a supervised setting.
• Minimum of High School Diploma required.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Successful completion of or current enrollment in an undergraduate program in psychology, healthcare, human services, education or related field preferred.
• Experience with students with autism and/or maladaptive behaviours preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to the goals, needs and requests of students and supervisors on an individualized basis, and in a professional manner.
• Work closely with school personnel (e.g. classroom/special teachers, TAs, school psychologist, social worker, behavior consultant, related service provider) to ensure the student’s success in the classroom.
• Work collaboratively with a behaviour consultant and/or clinical supervisor to provide academic, behavioural, and social/emotional support to student with special needs.
• Assist with classroom assignments under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Implementation of behaviour support plans or skill acquisition programs (data collection, progress reporting, CPI training and implementation)
• Help with daily living tasks, such as mobility, hygiene, and transitions.
• Escort the student to different locations (bathroom, cafeteria, therapy sessions).
• Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding students in accordance with State and Federal regulations
• Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Understand and demonstrate the company core values.
