Job summary

Family of Kidz is seeking a part-time, school-based Behavior Technician to support students in Suffolk County. Hours vary with the school district, typically 25–32 per week, following the district calendar. Compensation ranges from $22 to $28 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months working with children or adolescents with special needs in a supervised setting.
• Must have High School Diploma.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Enrollment in or completion of an undergraduate program in psychology, healthcare, human services, education or related field preferred.
• Experience with autism and/or maladaptive behaviors preferred.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond to the goals, needs and requests of students and supervisors, on an individualized basis, in a professional manner.
• Work closely with school personnel to ensure the student’s success in the classroom.
• Collaborate with a behavior consultant and/or clinical supervisor to provide academic, behavioral, and social/emotional support to student with special needs.
• Assist with classroom assignments under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Implement behavior support plans or skill acquisition programs (data collection, progress reporting, CPI training and implementation).
• Help with daily living tasks, such as mobility, hygiene, and transitions.
• Escort the student to different locations (bathroom, cafeteria, therapy sessions).
• Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students per State and Federal regulations.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Understand and demonstrate the company core values.
