Job summary

After-School All-Stars in Los Angeles is seeking a part-time Program Leader to provide leadership and support in academic, cultural and recreational enrichment for youth in a school setting. Under the Program Coordinator, you will help create a safe, educational environment that energizes students.

Responsibilities include planning the daily program, maintaining a 20:1 ratio, coordinating with schools and guardians, supervising activities, and ensuring safety and proper supplies.

Qualifications

• Experience with K-12 youth in recreational/educational settings.
• Ability to work with School District staff, parents and leaders.
• Familiarity with after-school program quality criteria.
• Effective communication and incident response in emergencies.
• Must be 18 years or older and meet background checks.
• Clear TB test and criminal record clearance requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills and conduct during activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school program.
• Maintain a 20:1 student ratio using recruitment and retention strategies.
• Build relationships with youth, guardians and school staff to raise visibility.
• Track attendance and report progress per quality improvement processes.
• Create a creative learning environment with supplies and materials.
• Supervise activities to ensure safety and inclusivity.
• Communicate with staff and guardians about activities and events.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Supervise field trips and events as needed.
• Distribute and track supper/snack per school protocols.
• Maintain program spaces and report hazards.
• Ensure safety standards in all program areas.
• Work evenings and weekends when required; may travel to meetings.
