Job summary

After-School All-Stars LA is seeking a Part-Time Program Leader in Los Angeles to support a youth enrichment program. Under the Program Coordinator, you will help provide leadership in academic, cultural and recreational activities and maintain a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in grades K-12 in recreational, educational and/or community youth outreach setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have HS diploma or GED and have passed ASAS-LA Instructional Aide exam or have an Associates degree or higher, or have completed at least two years of college.
• Criminal record clearance by fingerprinting.
• TB test clearance.
• Physical ability to lead and participate in activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in a language other than English desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school program under the Program Coordinator.
• Maintain a 20:1 ratio using dynamic student recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, guardians, and school staff.
• Provide attendance tracking data and program progress to supervisor.
• Prepare supplies and materials for activities and monitor supply needs.
• Facilitate age-appropriate active and engaging learning experiences.
• Supervise students during program activities and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate with staff, guardians about activities and events.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development.
• Supervise field trips and events as needed.
• Distribute and track supper/snack per school protocols.
• Maintain program spaces and report hazards.
• Keep materials/equipment in good condition.
• Communicate safety standards for the program.
