Job summary

New York Edge in Queens is seeking a dedicated After School Program Director for a part-time role. You will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure program quality and contract compliance, and foster a fun, learning‑driven environment for students and staff.

The position is in-person Monday–Friday, 12pm–6pm, in Queens. Compensation is $35 per hour. You will supervise staff, plan activities, coordinate outreach, and partner with schools to boost student achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work.
• At least 18 credit hours from an accredited college in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or related field preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience in urban education, youth development or community organizing with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth & adolescents in New York City in an after school or community center setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversees program staff, operations, and services to meet timeframes and compliance.
• Conducts staff evaluations and development plans.
• Provides regular team meetings for feedback and planning.
• Coordinates outreach to the community to recruit participants.
• Prepares attendance and program content reports for internal/external reporting.
• Provides weekly supervision with feedback and goal setting.
• Supports all team members, including indirect reports.
• Collaborates on monthly staff professional development workshops/seminars.
• Collaborates with principals to align with student achievement goals.
• Monitors program compliance (registration, staff docs, attendance, IDs, permits).
• Performs other related duties to ensure efficient operation.
