Job summary

Right At School is seeking an enthusiastic Educator to support our before/after school programs in Lemont, IL on a substitute, as-needed basis. You’ll greet students, lead age-appropriate activities, assist with homework, and maintain a safe, structured environment.

This part-time role offers flexible hours and a chance to gain hands-on education experience in a community school setting. Required: 1+ year working with children, strong communication, reliable attendance, ability to lift 25 lbs,

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred).
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games.
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with children and adults.
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. and stand, walk, bend, and kneel during shifts.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain records.
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group.
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed.
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions in a safe environment.
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance.
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up/drop-off about the day.
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to the Program Manager; log incidents.
• Set up and clean-up program space and materials daily.
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with staff.
