Job summary

Right At School is seeking a part-time Educator at our Harvard, IL location to guide activities and oversee a safe, structured environment for students before and after school. You will build relationships with kids, support homework, and help with enrichment activities while collaborating with other staff.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of experience with children, strong communication skills, and reliability for a consistent schedule.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with children
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part‑time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed
• Illinois state requirements: First Aid and CPR, TB test, 18+ years, High School diploma/GED

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you're working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick‑up and drop‑off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff
