Job summary

The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is seeking a detail-oriented Writing Assistant to support student success in health sciences writing. This part-time role with flexible scheduling focuses on providing feedback, developing learning materials, and guiding students through college and graduate-level writing tasks.

Collaborating with the Writing Coordinator, you will help students improve clarity, grammar, and structure while ensuring privacy under FERPA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Familiarity with college-level writing instruction, student coaching, and graduate-level writing.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess student writing submissions, providing detailed, constructive feedback and strategies for improvement.
• Conduct one-on-one virtual writing consultations with students, providing individualized guidance across stages of the writing process.
• Support the Writing Coordinator in developing and updating instructional materials related to academic and scholarly writing.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with students, ensuring timely feedback and follow-up.
• Stay current with best practices in writing instruction, academic support, scholarly writing, and academic integrity.
