Job summary

Orange County Government’s Parks and Recreation division is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker to plan, organize, and facilitate recreational activities while preparing facilities for public use. You will guide part-time staff, interns, and volunteers, and ensure safe, welcoming environments across multiple parks and fields.

Applicants must have an Associate’s degree and two years in parks and recreation or an equivalent combination.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and two years of Parks & Recreation experience or equivalent combination
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within twelve months from date of hire
• May require Aquatic License and Certified Pool and Spa Operator Certification

Responsibilities

• Keep facility clean and debris-free including restrooms, sweeping, trash removal
• Operate specialized vehicles and equipment (carts, mowers, trucks, trailers, tractors)
• Perform basic construction and repair duties for park maintenance
• Open, close, and secure park sites and facilities
• Train, supervise, and evaluate interns, casual laborers, recreation leaders and volunteers
• Assist with maintenance of buildings and recreational facilities
• Collect fees and maintain money records
• Write and maintain monthly reports
• Plan or assist in special events programming
• Conduct inventory and order supplies
• Supervise registrations for classes
