Job summary

Virginia Tech's Parking Services Manager leads a cross-functional team to deliver safe, efficient parking across campus and facilities. The role guides operations, enforcement, and events while advancing technology use and customer service excellence.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and extensive experience in parking or transportation operations, with strong leadership and budget management. It is a full-time on-site role with extended hours for campus events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or significant relevant training and experience.
• Demonstrated management experience in parking, transportation operations, or similar operations.
• Experience in planning and managing parking and transportation operations for events such as concerts, large intercollegiate athletic events such as football, or similar situations.
• Experience in reviewing maintenance requirements of surface and structured parking and managing repairs in line with industry standards or similar experience.
• Experience managing a complex and robust budget and analyzing fiscal reports.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing and summarizing data in a variety of formats.
• Demonstrated experience working effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Considerable experience training and mentoring employees.
• Previous supervisory experience in a complex, high-volume operation.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be willing and able to work extended hours in support of campus events.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of Parking Services and implement procedures to maximize the use of technology.
• Lead a team including the Assistant Manager, Appeals Officer, and the Operations Technology Specialist.
• Promote employee development through engagement and recognition of skills and competencies.
• Serve as liaison to the university and surrounding community and ensure a safe, effective parking experience across facilities.
• Enhance cross-functional collaboration and coordinate with stakeholders for events and campus operations.
