Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician II for Hammocks Beach State Park in Swansboro, NC. This outside-maintenance role requires hands-on work maintaining park grounds, facilities, and equipment.

A sign-on bonus of $1,700 is offered for eligible candidates. Typical schedule is Wednesday through Saturday, with potential evenings and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks in trades (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC).
• Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain state certifications within 12–24 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled tasks in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and auto mechanics.
• Operate large and small equipment and tools.
• Purchase resources following state policies and maintain records.
• Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of park facilities.
• May supervise temporary staff, volunteers, or community service participants.
• Work independently and with others on projects.
