Job summary

The City of Brownsville, PARDS: Sports Park, is seeking a Maintenance Worker I-PT to perform general inside and outside building and grounds maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include mowing, painting, carpentry, and cleaning parking areas, with work outdoors in varying conditions under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (six months of related experience preferred) and a valid Texas driver’s license. The position pays $14.50 per hour and emphasizes teamwork and safety.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED; able to read and write with no experience.
• Six months of related work experience preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Operates hand and power tools safely in all weather conditions.
• Maintains green areas by mowing, weeding, landscaping, and trimming vegetation.
• Maintains buildings and structures per supervisor instructions (drywall, painting, fixtures, patches).
• Keeps facilities, tools and equipment in good condition for maintenance and cleanliness.
• Keeps gutters, roofs, parks and trails free of trash and debris.
• Inspects facilities, vehicles and equipment daily; reports defects.
• Reports hazardous conditions immediately with written reports.
• Works well in groups; demonstrates teamwork.
• Performs other related tasks and emergency duties as needed.
