Job summary

The City Library in Brownsville, TX is seeking a part-time Maintenance Worker I to assist with grounds care at the Main Branch. The role covers sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting and related tasks under direct supervision.

Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED with no experience required. Valid Texas driver’s license is needed and physical effort is required for outdoor maintenance and equipment operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required, with no prior experience necessary.

• Reasonable physical fitness to perform routine grounds maintenance and operate city equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine landscaping maintenance such as mowing, trimming, planting, digging, mulching and related tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of City buildings and surrounding grounds at City Library Main Branch.
• Operate a variety of powered and hand tools and equipment to support maintenance work.
• Assist in landscape upkeep under supervision and follow established procedures.
