Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview and requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and coordinate medical emergencies with Center Physician or Medical Affairs.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
