PARAMEDIC – PER DIEM

Trumbull EMS is currently seeking dedicated and skilled Paramedics to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Paramedic, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality pre-hospital care and support to our community. Salary: $29.68 PER HOUR
General Statement of Duties
Per Diem paramedic is a position responsible for responding and providing emergency care to citizens of Trumbull and surrounding communities when called upon. Paramedic will follow all policies and procedures to the best of their ability. Paramedic will act professional and polite when interacting with any member of the community. Paramedic is expected to work a schedule involving days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. Shifts are given out evenly to all per diems based on availability given to EMS schedule supervisor but not to exceed 30 hours a week. Per Diem paramedic will act as a team leader in absence of full-time medic and EMS supervisory staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responding to emergency calls promptly, efficiently, and calmly, following TEMS policies and procedures.
- Administering basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, during transport, and in pre-hospital settings, in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards.
- Adhering to all treatment and transportation protocols established by TEMS, local, and state guidelines.
- Ensuring timely and accurate completion of patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and other required documentation.
- Maintaining communication equipment to stay in contact with dispatchers and other emergency personnel.
- Keeping all certifications, licenses, and registrations up to date and on file with the EMS Division.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with all appropriate OSHA standards, company policies, and local standard operating procedures.
- Presenting a clean and professional appearance and maintaining a helpful, dignified, and responsive attitude when interacting with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Collaborating professionally with allied health and public safety personnel to ensure excellent customer service and the highest level of patient care.
- Completing daily station chores, maintaining TEMS grounds in an orderly and clean fashion.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by Management Staff.
- Demonstrating an open and willing attitude, being receptive to assistance, suggestions, and assigned projects, while emphasizing the importance of community relations and staff morale.
- Being a self-starting, goal-oriented individual who sets high standards and consistently delivers on them.
- Willingness to share the importance of a positive attitude with other staff members.
- All aspects of patient movement including, but not limited to, lifting from the ground, lifting a patient while on the cot, lifting a patient in a stair chair, carrying a patient down step in a stair chair or cot, moving patients from one surface to another (cot to bed, cot to bench seat, etc.)
- Performs work related to public relations as needed, such as school demonstrations.

- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, both wet and dry, as well as extreme cold and heat.
- Physical demands include walking, twisting, stooping, standing, squatting, pushing, pulling, lifting, dragging, and carrying objects up to 150 lbs.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles (including potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne and airborne pathogens), toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
- Exposure to loud noise and high-stress situations.
- Potential involvement in potentially dangerous situations, such as dealing with violent patients.
- Irregular work schedule and hours may be required.

Knowledge, Skill & Ability- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Outlook, and Excel).
- Working knowledge of computers and office equipment.
- Possess clinical literacy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA compliance.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrate experience in interacting collaboratively with multiple agencies and/or authorities.
- Working knowledge of grant research and application processes.
- Must possess excellent problem-solving skills.
- General familiarity with Federal and State laws and regulation pertaining to OEMS.
- Experience responding to emergency calls while in a leader capacity to assist in times of heavier call volume.
Experience & Training- Maintains all required licenses and certifications for position.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid and Current AHA ACLS, PALS, BLS-Provider Certifications
- Valid and Current Driver’s License
- NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700
Paramedics without Bridgeport Sponsor Hospital Medical Control must meet their requirements and obtain Medical Control within 90 days of hire date.
Preferred Requirements6 Months EMT Field Experience and 6 Months Paramedic Field Experience
