Piedmont Eastside Medical Center Emergency Department is hiring a Paramedic for full-time day shifts. Join a 38-bed ED that handles about 160 patient visits daily, with capabilities for stroke and STEMI interventions and on-campus helicopter access.

Candidates must hold BLS; RNs require ACLS and PALS, with NIH pref. This role emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and efficient care in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of Paramedic experience preferred.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; LP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Must have working knowledge of intramuscular, sublingual, oral, rectal, nebulizers, intravenous and IV push meds, with understanding of interactions and anaphylaxis protocol.
• Assess neurological, respiratory, cardiac, GI and trauma presentations and respond appropriately.
• Provide safe patient care with age-appropriate, culturally aware considerations and collaborate with RN and physician directions.
• Perform EKGs and Foley catheterizations.
• Start IVs, IOs, and blood draws as needed.
• Transport patients to other departments as required.
• Monitor patients for arrhythmias and report changes to Charge Nurse/RN promptly.
• Maintain effective communication with the team and document actions.
