Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Cedar Falls, IA. You determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety and adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable findings under physician guidance.

You’ll support EHS and vaccination programs, reporting to the Center Manager. Requires state EMT-Paramedic license, CPR/AED, IV therapy capability, and 2+ years clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; includes informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and coordinate with Center Physician for emergencies.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings or medical issues.
• Support vaccination programs (Hep B and Seasonal Flu) for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS as needed.
