Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations in Cedar Falls, IA. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor reactions, and coordinate with physicians under guidance from the Center Manager and Medical Affairs.

Responsibilities include reviewing lab results, adhering to SOPs for emergencies, and supporting vaccination programs for staff. Prior clinical experience and nursing licenses are required, with Takeda backing and center-level

Qualifications

• Must hold current state licenses to practice nursing (RN/LPN/LVN) or paramedic credentials.
• Must meet FDA training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Minimum two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, and self-exclusion, medical history, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) as per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and center physician standing orders; arrange donor transport as needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate follow-up with occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
