Job summary

Ascension’s Emergency Department in Indianapolis seeks a PRN EMS professional to identify, stabilize, and manage acutely ill or injured patients in collaboration with physicians and nurses. You will implement transport-team interventions, monitor patient status, and educate families on illnesses and therapies.

The role requires ALS and BLS certifications with Indiana EMS credentials; EMT or Paramedic credentials are preferred, along with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • ALS within 6 months of hire (AHA/Red Cross accepted).
  • BLS within 1 month of hire (AHA/Red Cross accepted).
  • EMT credentialed from the Indiana DHS prior to hire date.
  • Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana DHS prior to hire date.
  • Drivers License preferred.
  • PALS preferred (AHA/Red Cross accepted).

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse.

  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.

  • Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.

  • Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.

What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  • One or more of the following required:

  • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Drivers License credentialed from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles preferred.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences:
  • Paramedic license required

  • 3+ years of experience
