Job summary

Ascension St Vincent Castleton Micro Hospital in Castleton, IN, seeks a PRN Emergency Department professional. You will identify, intervene, and stabilize patients under physician and nurse direction, and initiate interventions per transport team protocols while monitoring patient status.

Role requires paramedic credential and ALS/BLS within specified windows; ED experience preferred. Work location is on site with community-focused care in a Catholic health system.

Qualifications

• Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire; AHA/Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire; AHA/Red Cross accepted.
• Paramedic credential from Indiana DHS prior to hire, or EMT credential with pathway to paramedic.
• Indiana Driver's License preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.

• Initiate and follow transport team protocols; monitor and communicate patient condition.
• Provide population-specific education to patient and family.
• Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure transport team and patient safety.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse.
• Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
• Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.
• Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
• Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Drivers License credentialed from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• Paramedic license required
• 3+ years of experience
