Job description

Summary:

The Paralegal is a crucial part of the Eagan Immigration team and has the primary responsibilities of assisting the lawyers in preparing and organizing various legal documents, corresponding with clients and agencies, discussing case details with attorneys and clients, and organizing different files for different legal proceedings. In this role, the Paralegal will be the primary support for RFEs (Requests for Evidence) for cases, preparing and filing packages with Attorney supervision as needed, managing deadlines and evidence, and speaking with clients regularly to explain and review status updates and questions. This position will also support denials and appeals cases in conjunction with the Attorney team.

Eagan Immigration is a US-based law firm dedicated to helping our clients explore their immigration options, create a plan for their case, and obtain the immigration benefit for which they qualify. We care about our clients and their families, and aim to support them at each stage of their immigration journey.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage Request for Evidence process, including but not limited to preparing RFE packages, preparing and managing evidence lists, tracking deadlines and RFE cases, contacting clients directly to collect evidence and explain RFE process, provide support to other Paralegals and Attorneys, etc.
  2. Escalated communication with clients such as, but not limited to:
    1. When Forms and Questionnaires teams aren't getting details or info, particularly when our team thinks the client may not be sharing all the details.
    2. When scope of case/practice area changes, provide context and explanation to clients, including any additional documents, paperwork, etc.
  3. Support Supervising Attorney with all Denials and Appeals Paralegal work.
  4. Provide additional support to the Legal team as needed by helping Questionnaire and/or Forms teams if particularly busy time or a teammate is out of the office.

Requirements:

  1. 3+ years of experience as a Paralegal or similar position.
  2. Past experience in the immigration space with strong working knowledge of visas, the immigration system, and process, etc.
  3. Preference for experience in MyCase and Microsoft.
  4. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  5. Flexibility and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  6. For this virtual position, we will provide a laptop with access to the necessary systems, but in order to best operate these systems, you will need reliable access to internet speed of at least 10-50MB.
  7. Willingness to adhere to the company values of compassion, innovation, communication, and commitment.
  8. Some flexibility in hours may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
