FSA Federal (FSA) is focused on delivering unsurpassed services in support of law enforcement and homeland security. We currently have a vacancy for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant III. In this role, you will be supporting the overall mission of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO).

Responsibilities
  1. Assists attorney in reviewing case material, including gathering, analyzing case material, and preparing a digest of decisions/opinions with legal references. May review work of Legal Clerk/Paralegal II.
  2. Receives, examines, and evaluates new and complex cases, referencing facts and standards.
  3. Assists in determining probable cause by reviewing investigative reports, establishing the need for further evidence, and planning evidence collection. Advises attorneys on case strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Investigates facts and laws, searches public records using legal research tools, and interviews law enforcement regarding probable cause, evidence, and witnesses.
  5. Prepares for trial by organizing discovery, interviewing witnesses, and summarizing information.
  6. Assists in settlement procedures, preparing related documents.
  7. Drafts legal pleadings, motions, and orders.
  8. Organizes and manages case files and exhibits.
  9. Summarizes legal documents and proceedings to assist attorneys.
  10. Uses databases and software to create reports, charts, and trial exhibits.
  11. Provides training to team members as needed.
  12. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Paralegal Certificate with at least one-year experience, or High School Diploma/GED with three years of paralegal experience.
  • One-year automated litigation support experience with knowledge of legal technology tools.
  • Knowledge of forfeiture law, policies, and trial experience preferred.
  • Strong legal research and analysis skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including legal writing.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal databases.
  • Commitment to customer service, adaptability, and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work in a team and maintain professionalism under pressure.

This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a background investigation of 7 or 10 years.
