Job summary

Pleasant Glade Elementary in Olympia, WA is hiring for a Paraeducator in the HSLS program for the 2026-27 school year. The position involves supporting students with special needs, collaboration with instructional staff, and ensuring student safety in a dynamic school setting.

Starting date is 2026/2027. Work is 6.5 hours per day, 5 days a week, 189 days per year. The role is a standard Paraeducator position with a union environment and compensation per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s Degree or 72 quarter credits of college courses numbered 100 or above OR the ETS Para Pro test.
• May be required to be certified in first aid, CPR, and/or operation of defibrillators.
• Experience working with culturally diverse families and communities or demonstrate commitment to engaging a diverse community.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in instruction, supervision, and student support in various settings.
• Assist students with daily tasks and health-related needs under supervision.
• Implement behavior and safety plans and monitor student behavior as directed.
• Document student progress and assist with reporting as needed.
• Follow school/district policies, protect student confidentiality, and communicate with staff and families.
