Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Communication & Sensory Program. The role runs 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year and is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Responsibilities include supporting teachers with instructional goals, assisting in implementing IEPs, maintaining data records, and collaborating with a diverse educational team to support students with disabilities in a structured classroom setting.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED
• Official transcripts or ETS ParaPro results required
• One year of related experience in an educational setting preferred
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred
• Ability to work in a diverse, team-oriented environment
• Strong problem solving, analytical and conflict resolution skills
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

• Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents with dignity and respect
• Assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating IEP goals
• Work as a team to support students’ academic and life skills
• Monitor and collect data as directed by the teacher
• Assist with data entry, record keeping and materials preparation
• Observe and respond to student behavior and safety needs
• Attend training to expand expertise in working with students with special needs
• Perform other tasks as assigned by administration
