Job summary

Rivian in Normal, IL seeks an Automation Group Leader to manage the day-to-day operations of the Automation and Technician team, focusing on PTEC/Sealer and Paint. You will lead AM schedules, address quality and uptime concerns, and support preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime. This role reports to the Sr.

Engineering Manager in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You will supervise a diverse team, drive improvements, and coordinate with Controls and Maintenance to ensure safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 3–5 years equivalent in plant automation/maintenance leadership.
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate under pressure.
• Proven ability to lead maintenance/automation teams and mentor staff.
• Experience with robotic paint/sealer equipment and automation controls.
• Willingness to travel off-site for training and equipment buy-offs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong communication and people management skills.
• Provide hands-on assistance and expertise to complete production, AM and PM tasks.
• Collaborate with suppliers, SME/PE, Controls and Maintenance to resolve quality issues.
• Continuously improve equipment and performance through projects.
• Oversee training and safety of the technical team and manage spares.
