Job summary

Halff is actively seeking a Transportation Intern for our Tyler, TX office. The Civil Engineering Intern will assist in Transportation design, including TxDOT, city, and county roadway and highway design projects, and help prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates while performing CAD work.

The internship runs from June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027, and interns are paid hourly for a full-time schedule (40 hours/week), typically 8a-5p, Monday through Friday. Housing is not provided by Halff.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET-accredited equivalent.
• Great communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
• Self-motivated with strong organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Assist in preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Transportation projects.
• Assist with drafting CAD work.
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects.
• Assist in preparing permit applications and regulatory documents.
• Coordinate with team members, surveyors, architects, and contractors.
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.
