The UNC Health Student Nurse Extern I program offers a 10-week, paid summer externship for rising senior ADN and BSN students to gain hands-on clinical experience in Med Surg. The role operates under RN supervision, with duties ranging from direct patient care to routine support tasks.

Students work in a 40-hour per week schedule on-site at UNC Rex Holly Springs Hospital, focusing on building foundational nursing skills and professional socialization in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in patient care.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsabilités

• Observe, document patient information and report changes.
• Assist patients and families during admission and discharge.
• Provide direct and indirect patient care as outlined in plan of care.
• Support orientation of new staff and students; assist in routine clerical tasks.
• Assist in examinations and procedures as needed; procure equipment and supplies.
