Job summary

Capital District Physicians Health Plan Inc. offers a 10-week paid Summer College Internship Program for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns participate in development workshops, work on meaningful projects, and are mentored by managers across multiple tracks, including business, IT, actuarial, and analytics.

The program runs June to August (up to 40 hours/week). Housing is not provided. Interns gain exposure to key business concepts and present outcomes at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

• Desire majors include Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial, & Statistics.
• High School diploma with proof of continuous college enrollment.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the development of rate or Medicare bid filings through analysis of benefit designs, claims experience, and expected future events.
• Assists in preparation of accurate and timely trend analyses.
• Assists in the development of preliminary reserve and future claim liabilities for internal and regulatory reporting.
• Supports the analysis of impacts to the health plan in response to regulatory changes.
• Assists in the preparation of risk adjustment analyses.
• Supports risk sharing analyses, capitation development, and associated settlements.
• Assists in performing analyses used in the development of financial planning, forecasting and other financial projections.
• Prepares and/or maintains appropriate documentation of work.
• Completes and/or supports ad-hoc analyses and projects and assists others in the department as needed.
