Job summary

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield is offering a 10-week paid Summer College Internship Program designed for undergraduates and graduates. Interns participate in development workshops, work on meaningful projects, and are mentored by their managers throughout the summer.

Interns may choose tracks across Business Administration, IT, Actuarial, HR, Analytics & Data, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, and more.

Qualifications

• Majors include Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial, & Statistics.
• High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to work well in a team and establish relationships with peers.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills.
• Proactive, creative and flexible in completing tasks.
• Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of rate or Medicare bid filings through analysis of benefit designs, claims experience, and future events.
• Assist in preparation of accurate and timely trend analyses.
• Assist in development of preliminary reserve and future claim liabilities for internal and regulatory reporting.
• Support analysis of impacts to the health plan in response to regulatory changes.
• Assist in preparation of risk adjustment analyses.
• Support risk sharing analyses, capitation development, and related settlements.
• Assist in analyses for financial planning, forecasting and projections.
• Prepare and maintain documentation of work.
• Complete ad-hoc analyses and projects with mentor support.
• Present completed work to stakeholders.
