Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) seeks a paid Records Management Intern in Austin, TX to gain hands-on experience with physical and electronic records, retention, disposition and compliance in a large state agency.

The internship runs year-round with up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours in summer; on-site at the Stassney Campus. Applicants should be students in Information Science or related fields.

Qualifications

• Entry-level internship in records management or related field.
• Must be a student enrolled in an educational program.
• Must be at least 16 years old; 18+ may drive on-site.

Responsibilities

• Process physical and electronic records requests for the Stassney Record Warehouse.
• Assist with record disposition and retention activities.
• Draft and review program documents and training materials.
• Update agency-wide training materials and policy documents.
• Explore modernization using low-code tools, automation and AI.
• Support other Records Management activities as needed.
