Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Perioperative Registered Nurse to assess, implement and monitor patient care across surgical procedures. The role leads the Riecker Surgery Center team, communicates with patients, families, and staff, and participates in ongoing staff development and cross-training as needed.

Responsibilities include admission procedures, readiness for discharge, anesthesia care understanding, and collaboration to update treatment plans.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills and effective communication with patients, families, and team members.
• Knowledge of pre-, intra-, and post-operative nursing care.
• Proficiency with Windows-based systems used in patient care documentation.
• Certification in perianesthesia nursing (CAPA) preferred at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Completes admission procedures, assesses needs, and prepares patient charts per policy.
• Assesses discharge readiness and follows physician orders with proper documentation.
• Demonstrates anesthesia agents and ventilation/homeostasis management and pain assessment for discharge readiness.
• Collaborates with team to update care plans and improve patient outcomes.
• Processes orders accurately and follows up on medication changes and clarifications.
