Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Advanced Medical Support Assistant to support Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) or specialty care settings.

The role involves coordinating care, managing appointments, and maintaining patient records within a fast-paced clinical environment. Responsibilities include team communication, handling referrals, utilizing the electronic health record, and assisting with patient throughput and care transitions.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required; non-citizens may be considered per VA policy.
• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English as required by VA.
• One year of experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level.

Responsibilities

• Participate in team huddles and planning to manage patient care.
• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments and referrals.
• Verify and update patient demographics and insurance at check-in.
• Coordinate administrative tasks for transfers and follow-up care.
• Enter patient information into the electronic health record and maintain data.
