General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking a Packer #2 in Saco, ME. The role packages finished products for shipment, using foam-in-place, military, and commercial packaging practices, and maintains packing records. Must follow military specs and process sheets. Requires lifting up to 35 pounds and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare wooden containers using saws, hammers, paddles, nails, bands, strapping, crimpers and knives.
• Produce packaging labels including RFID/UID labeling.
• Operate stacker for moving heavy shipping containers.

Job Summary

**$27.55 per hour**

The Packer #2 will package finished products for shipment and can perform the following: Foam-in-Place Packaging, Military Packaging, and Commercial Packaging Practices. Must be knowledgeable of packing procedures, materials, and types of shipping containers. Oil parts prior to packing using various types of oil for corrosion prevention. Maintains records of serial numbers, packaging contents, dates, etc. Follow established company directives and policies, military specifications, process sheet operations, and instructions.

Responsibilities

Individually wraps items. May place in foil and plastic bags and vacuum heat seal. Assemble cardboard boxes, tubing cans, crates, cells and supports for shipping containers. Place packed cardboard containers in pre-made wooden boxes of various sizes. Use saws, hammers, paddles, nails, metal bands, strapping, crimpers, stretchers, cutters and utility knives to prepare wooden containers for shipment, as well as, pneumatic air tools.

Produce packaging labels on computer terminal including RFID/UID labeling. Use stencil machines for producing letters and numbers. Operate stacker for moving heavy shipping containers.

The physical capacity requirements for this position require the incumbent to be able to lift 35 pounds frequently. Practice safety and good housekeeping policies and procedures.

• Performs such paper work as preparing transportation slips, shortage lists, requisitions, etc. or work of a similar nature.
• May be required to perform other duties as required by supervision and follows instructions as directed.

• Average eight (8) months. Includes over four (4) months through one (1) year.

Required certification in the following Foam in Place Packaging, Military Packaging and

• Commercial Packaging Practices. Per ASTMD 3951.

Skills:

• Able to be constantly aware of security and foreign object debris hazards.

Employee must have basic computer skills, and may be required to enter and verify information into written forms or database(s) as appropriate.
