Job summary

Geater Machining & Manufacturing, Co. in Independence, IA is seeking a Packaging Shipping Control clerk to verify outgoing shipments, prepare items for shipment, and maintain shipping records.

You will weigh, label, and pack items, selecting appropriate materials and methods to ensure safe delivery. The role requires attention to detail and basic experience with shipping documentation; familiarity with the GOLD system is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify and keep records on outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, or orders.
• Determine packing and shipping methods for items.
• Affix shipping labels and stamps identifying information on cartons.
• Assemble containers or select pre-assembled ones.
• Pack items with appropriate materials to prevent damage.
• Post weights and shipping charges on paperwork as needed.
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Prepare products for shipment/storage per product specs.
• Use GOLD system for accurate work instructions.

Job description

Position Summary:

The basic function of Packaging Shipping Control is to verify and keep records on outgoing shipments; prepare items for shipment; and compile records concerned with storing, issuing and shipping product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Compare identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items on outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determine method of packaging and shipping.
• Affix shipping labels on packed cartons and stamps identifying information on cartons.
• Assemble cardboard containers or select pre-assembled container.
• Insert items into containers and packs with suitable packing material to prevent handling damage during shipment or storage.
• Post weights and shipping charges if necessary on paperwork.
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Prepare product for shipment/storage by wrapping, bagging, tagging, or binding according to product specification.
• Consistently use GOLD (Geater Operations Linking Database) for accurate work instructions.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
• Preferred: Six months to one year related experience and or training.
