Job summary

The Sofidel Group is seeking a Packaging Operator for Sofidel America to operate paper converting equipment on a 12-hour day/night rotating schedule. You will help ensure safety, quality, and efficiency on the line while following GMP/HACCP guidelines and company policies.

Responsibilities include set-up and change-over of packaging equipment, maintaining production targets, and coordinating with maintenance and other operators.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 6–12 months experience in manufacturing inventory and purchasing and/or training; preferred equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work across departments and in a team environment.
• Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize tasks with strong time-management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Ability to learn and certify in Lift and Crane operation
• Ability to use tools, measuring tape, calculators, and other metrology instruments related to the operation of the equipment.
• Ability to identify nonconformance and notify Supervisor of issues.
• Communicate in a manner that supports production; coordinate with managers, technicians and operators on testing procedures and results.
• Ability to use computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supports GMP and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienic workplace.
• Set-up, operation, adjustment, and change-over of primary/secondary packaging equipment.
• Work with team to achieve production rates and line uptime.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks and report needs to maintenance staff.
• Document quality control, production and maintenance issues on forms.
• Understand product specs to ensure quality within tolerances.
• Read schedules and manuals to operate equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow housekeeping rules.
• Inspect equipment condition and report issues to Supervisor or Maintenance.
• Assist other operators, maintenance, or production staff as needed.
• Perform or assist with other operations to maintain workflow and meet schedules.
