Job summary

Amcor Rigid Packaging is seeking a high-caliber engineer to manage complex capital projects related to PET preforms and rigid containers. You will review new products from a manufacturing perspective, oversee multiple sites from conception to qualification, and drive productivity, timing, and budget adherence.

The role requires seven years in plastics packaging engineering with project management, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Seven years of professional engineering experience in plastics packaging with seven years in project management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to convey technical information.
  • Ability to manage multiple resources and complex projects.
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience evaluating on-site manufacturing opportunities and managing on-site projects from concept to completion.
  • Experience with SPC.

Responsibilities

  • Create bills of materials for new capital projects and support the capital appropriation process.
  • Ensure that safety and environmental requirements are incorporated into the project scope and budget.
  • Refine feasibility studies with input from Regional Directors, Plant Managers and Plant resources into an action plan meeting cost and timing criteria.
  • Review plant infrastructure, layout and equipment against project requirements; develop upgrade plans.
  • Analyze and evaluate the performance and cost of new or existing equipment (machinery, tooling, workflows, vendors).
  • Communicate and resolve technical, timing and budgetary issues; publish weekly project status reports.
  • Create and maintain division-level technical specifications, standards and documentation for Operations Engineering.
  • Communicate with plants to understand long-term project performance and support issue resolution.
  • Review CEAV requests for accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Travel ~60%.
