Job summary

FedEx Ground in California is seeking a Trainer to instruct Package Handlers on unloading, loading, palletizing, scanning, and safe handling techniques, ensuring efficient and safe package movement. You will train new PHs and reinforce dock safety standards while rotating through Loader, Unloader, Palletizer, SWAK, QA, and other areas.

No formal education is required; six months of PH experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to train multiple peer PHs simultaneously.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
• PHs operating switching equipment must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.

Responsibilities

• Trains new PHs in unloading, loading, palletizing, carrying, smalls handling, SWAK, and non-conveyable package handling techniques.
• Provides training to other PHs who need instruction on unloading, carrying, loading, palletizing, smalls handling, SWAK, or non-conveyable package handling techniques.
• Provides feedback on proper package handling techniques as needed.
• Reinforces dock safety standards among peer PHs.
• Updates managers on conditions during the sort to inform efficiency decisions.
• Assists in implementing new package handling procedures and techniques.
• Regularly loads/unloads, palletizes, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages while training others.
