Good Shepherd Services in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Youth Development Counselor for the Overnight shift to supervise and support residents at a 10-bed female adolescent Youth Reception Center. You will work with participants and families to foster a therapeutic milieu and teach social skills, homemaking skills, and personal development.

The role requires full‑time onsite work, day/evening/overnight hours, and some weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Excellent written, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Valid Driver's License; able to drive in the New York Metro areas including the five boroughs and Long Island.
• Ability to work day/evening/overnight shifts; some weekend shifts.
• Bilingual – Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the whereabouts and safety of participants at all times.
• Plan, lead and engage participants in a range of program activities including tutoring, cultural events, and evenings/weekends activities.
• Escort participants to and from court, school, medical appointments and other visits.
• Monitor participants’ school performance and provide homework assistance and tutoring.
• Maintain documentation logs of daily activities, progress notes and critical events.
• Attend mandatory meetings and trainings; participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Use Sanctuary Model tools to create a non-violent, trauma‑sensitive culture.
• Promote and model Sanctuary Model commitments; integrate the SELF framework into daily practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
