Job summary

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is hiring a Youth Development Counselor for overnight shifts Wednesday through Saturday from 11 pm to 9 am in Wading River, NY. The role involves supervising children, ensuring safety, and coordinating activities in a residence setting.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid NYS driver’s license, and experience with groups of children.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.
Valid NYS driver’s license is required.
Experience handling groups of children & teens is preferred.
Ability to participate in mandated initial TCI training during weekday evenings upon hire.
Fluent English reading, writing and speaking, and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Supervises the activities of the children residing in the cottage; ensures that rules and procedures are followed.
Depending on shift, assists in organizing, supervising and participating in recreational activities and may involve driving clients.
Instructs children on personal hygiene; supervises and participates in maintaining the cleanliness of the cottage.
Depending on shift, may prepare and supervise meals and assist in housekeeping of the residence.
Enters information concerning residents' activity during shift into the Cottage Log; prepares incident reports as required.
Maintains routine records and prepares oral and written reports; understands laws and regulations for care and safety.
