Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd in the Bronx, NY is hiring a Youth Development Counselor to provide direct supervision, safety, and supportive counseling to residents in a group home setting. You will implement daily living routines, document required records, and coordinate with families when appropriate, while upholding Sanctuary and Missouri model practices.

This full-time, 40-hour/week role requires onsite availability for day, evening, or overnight shifts, including some weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid New York State driver’s license.
• Must complete and pass the program’s designated behavior management/physical intervention training.
• Capable of sustained physical exertion.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
• Commitment to use The Missouri Model and trauma-informed approach.
• Commitment to a youth development and strength-based framework.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and be accountable for residents at all times.
• Manage residents' behavior and maintain order.
• Implement daily living routines, schedules and procedures.
• Ensure resident safety and maintain cleanliness throughout the house.
• Provide individual and group counseling and, when appropriate, work with families and treatment plans.
• Maintain records, logs, and adhere to documentation requirements.
• Participate in educational, recreational, and personal enrichment activities.
• Provide safe transportation for residents.
• Escort residents to court, school, and other appointments.
• Attend all mandatory training required by ACS and GSS.
• Adhere to ACS regulations and Sanctuary Model tools.
• Promote Sanctuary Model commitments to create a non-violent, trauma-sensitive culture.
• Integrate the Sanctuary Model SELF framework into daily practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
