Job summary

Shawnee Animal Clinic is a growing, family-oriented practice in Ohio seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant for overnight coverage (7pm–7am). You’ll join a team of eight doctors and a large support staff, providing high-quality care across hospital, grooming, boarding and training facilities.

Duties include patient restraint, triage, lab sample collection, diagnostic imaging, nursing care, medication administration and surgical prep.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player with strong communication.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficiency in sample collection, history taking, lab tests and radiographs is a bonus.
• Willingness to learn and multi-task in a fast-paced hospital.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint and triage of incoming patients.
• Collection and analysis of lab samples and diagnostic imaging.
• Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying stability.
• Administration of medications and surgical preparation/assistance.
• Effective communication of treatment plans with clients.
• Overnight shift coverage from 7pm to 7am.

Shawnee Animal Clinic is a growing, family-oriented practice with wonderful clients. We currently have eight doctors of veterinary medicine and over sixty support staff between our hospital, grooming facility, and boarding and training facility. Our team is like our family, and we are looking for individuals who are self-starters, have a willingness to learn, and can multi-task in a fast-paced veterinary hospital.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

This is an overnight position 7pm-7am

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients and surgical preparation and assistance.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
