Job summary

Shawnee Animal Clinic in Cincinnati, OH is seeking an overnight Veterinary Assistant for 7pm–7am coverage. You will restrain pets, triage patients, collect and analyze lab samples, perform imaging, and provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases while communicating treatment plans to clients.

Responsibilities include medication administration, surgical prep and assistance, and maintaining a clean, safe clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary assistant with 1+ year preferred.
• Compassionate, calm demeanor and strong communication.
• Ability to properly restrain pets.
• Proficiency in sample collection, histories, lab tests, and radiographs is a bonus.
• Self-starter who wants to grow knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

This is an overnight position 7pm-7am

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients and surgical preparation and assistance. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases. Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
