Job summary

Shawnee Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant for an overnight shift from 7pm to 7am. The role involves assisting doctors, restraining animals, performing nursing duties, and supporting clients in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience.
• Compassionate, calm, team player with strong communication.
• Ability to properly restrain pets.
• Experience with sample collection, lab processing, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Restrain and handle animals for procedures.
• Triage incoming patients and monitor status.
• Collect and analyze lab samples.
• Assist in diagnostic imaging and radiographs.

Shawnee Animal Clinic is a growing, family-oriented practice with wonderful clients. We currently have eight doctors of veterinary medicine and over sixty support staff between our hospital, grooming facility, and boarding and training facility. Our team is like our family, and we are looking for individuals who are self-starters, have a willingness to learn, and can multi-task in a fast-paced veterinary hospital.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

This is an overnight position 7pm-7am

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients and surgical preparation and assistance.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
